Stars Need Extra Frames to Get Past Saints
Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Stade Montreal.

Montreal catcher Garland Phelps had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 9-8, to Los Angeles at Stade Montreal. Phelps was 3-6 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The Saints, now 6-19, continue their sluggish start.

Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Ralph Barrell to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Stars on top, 9-7. For the game, Barrell had 1 home run and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Los Angeles manager Charley McCullough.
