Sailors Reel Off Another Win
Getting a good performance from second baseman Heinie Spitler, the San Francisco Sailors defeated the Toronto Wolves, 3-2. Spitler was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Sailors. Zane Kelley, the winner, improved to 4-0. He held the Wolves to 2 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 2. Eddie Chapman picked up his 5th save of the season.

Spitler had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-1 screwball from Arnie Smith, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Sailors a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Spitler.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Randy Hohlt.

San Francisco sits at 12-12 in the early going.
