Montreal Picks Up Another L | The San Francisco Sailors picked up a win at Golden Gate Stadium, dropping the Montreal Saints, 13-6. Hank Lacey, who is tied for 7th in the CA with a 1.17 WHIP, was the difference-maker. Montreal, at 5-17, is off to a poor start in 1962.
Heinie Spitler hit a bases-clearing triple off Jerry Duncan in the bottom of the first, which put the Sailors in front, 3-0. Spitler had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 5.
"Everyone's kind of edgy right now," said losing manager Lynn Gray, "but nothing a couple of wins wouldn't cure." | |
