| Pioneers Foil Gothams, 4-2 | The St. Louis Pioneers picked up a win at Pioneer Field III, downing the New York Gothams, 4-2. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Billy Hasson, who played a pivotal role in the win. Hasson yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 13-6. St. Louis's record now stands at 65-43, placing them first in the Federal Association.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from center fielder Bill Bather. For the game, Bather was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 12th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 3-2 lead.
