| Philadelphia Tacks 5-3 Loss on Baltimore | The Philadelphia Keystones beat the Baltimore Clippers, 5-3, at Patapsco Field. The Keystones got a fine performance from left fielder Jake Butler, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Philadelphia pitcher Buzz Lucas got the win, upping his record to 2-9. Jimmy Pepper got the loss. Jim Steuber got the save, the 13th for him this season.
Bobby Phelps, who finished 3rd in the FA in RBI with 99 in 1971, helped out the Philadelphia cause in the top of the sixth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager Charlie Leist.
