| Comets Lose, 2-0, at Whitney Park | Chicago pitcher Walt Jackson did his part in helping his team defeat the Houston Comets, 2-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Jackson, now 2-5, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was John Thomas. He's now 2 for 2 in save chances.
Harry McDaniel took Houston hurler George Roy deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run put the Chiefs on top, 2-0. In all, McDaniel had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Chicago manager Ollie Howard said.
