| Wranglers Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1 | In a low-scoring affair between the Dallas Wranglers and the Chicago Cougars, pitcher Otey Stevens was the difference between victory and defeat. The Dallas right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Wranglers win. Dallas goes to 39-31, Chicago to 32-43.
In the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Jim Thomson gave Dallas the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Wranglers had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out single off Chicago pitcher Bill Scott changed that -- and Dallas went on to win.
"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Thomson said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."
