| Los Angeles Slaps 5-2 Loss on Minneapolis | The skies opened up and the rain fell at Hennepin County Stadium.
Bob Hinzman, who led the CA in innings pitched with 269.1 in 1973, had a strong outing for the Los Angeles Suns against the Minneapolis Millers at Hennepin County Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-2 win. The winning pitcher was Hinzman, now 8-4. He tossed 6 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. Ron Clark nailed down his 17th save.
Los Angeles used the hitting of Larry Hurlbutt to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Suns on top, 2-0. For the game, Hurlbutt had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Bob's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Jim Coulter, the Suns manager.
The Suns lead the Federal Association West by 3 games. | |
