| Streaking Copperheads Win Another One, 6-2 | Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Copperheads beat the Eagles.
Dutch Wright, who finished 3rd in the FA in ERA with 2.81 in 1973, was locked in. The right-hander led the Atlanta Copperheads to a 6-2 win against the Washington Eagles at Peachtree Stadium. Wright got the win, improving to 4-0. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Atlanta pinch hitter Jack Finley contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Copperheads ahead, 5-2.
"We put our best foot forward tonight," said a smiling Finley.
Atlanta has now won 8 games in a row.
