| Keystones Roll Over Eagles, 10-3 | Conditions were not ideal but Philadelphia and Washington were able to put their game in the books.
The Philadelphia Keystones picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, downing the Washington Eagles, 10-3. On the mound for Philadelphia was left-hander Doc Carver, who played a pivotal role in the win. Washington now has a record of 7-7.
Philadelphia third baseman Leon Stapleton contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Keystones ahead, 3-1.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said Keystones manager Charlie Leist. | |
