Cleveland Upended, 7-5, by Toronto
The Toronto Wolves defeated the Cleveland Foresters, 7-5, in part because of catcher Ray Smith. Smith was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Wolves. Whitey Stewart earned the save for Toronto, his 13th of the year. The 7th-place Wolves now have a record of 40-63.

Smith had a game-changing double in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 sinker from Lynn Horn, he banged a run-scoring double to right-center, giving the Wolves a 4-3 lead. It was the 6th double of the year for Smith.

"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Smith.
