| Free Falling Dynamos Lose Again | The Los Angeles Suns knocked off the Detroit Dynamos, 3-1, in Federal Association action at Wilshire Park. Los Angeles pitcher and Brooklyn, New York, native Pete Meissner had an outstanding performance. Meissner, the winner, moves to 11-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Ron Clark closed the game out for Los Angeles, earning his 11th save.
The Dynamos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Suns going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old catcher Ed Mooney came to the plate. Mooney hit a 2-run double on a first pitch cutter from Detroit hurler Jack Vander Kooi. It was Mooney's 7th double of the year.
"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Detroit manager Roger Cleaves.
The Dynamos, now 19-48, have lost 10 in a row.
