| Dynamos Absorb 5-0 Home Loss | Pete Meissner, who finished 3rd in the FA in strikeouts with 209 in 1971, had a strong outing for the Los Angeles Suns against the Detroit Dynamos at Thompson Field. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-0 win. The first-place Suns hiked their record to 41-28.
Sam Forrester had a big run-scoring double for the Suns in the top of the third inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Jack Williams and swatted a double to right. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Suns ahead, 2-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Los Angeles manager Jim Coulter. "It's usually not just one thing." | |
