Sailors Come Up Short at Cleveland, 3-2 | The game between Cleveland and San Francisco is in the books, despite a little rain.
Cleveland Foresters starter Ira Robinson was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the San Francisco Sailors, 3-2. Johnny Ogden, who finished 2nd in the CA in saves with 30 last year, earned the save for Cleveland.
Paul Williams had a big run-scoring double for the Foresters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Cleveland leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from George Fuller, who led the CA in wins with 17 last year, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Foresters ahead, 3-1.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Robinson.
Cleveland, with the win, is 2-0. | |
