Miners Take Down Millers, 5-4
The Pittsburgh Miners did just enough to sneak past the Minneapolis Millers, 5-4, at Hennepin County Stadium. Pittsburgh second baseman Dixie Turner, in particular, had a standout performance. The last-place Millers have dropped 5 straight games.

Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Eddie Thomas to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Miners on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Frank Vance told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
