| Houston Stymied by Wagner | The Houston Comets manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Minneapolis Millers. The Comets were overpowered by Minneapolis starter Hank Wagner, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Glenn Carney said.
Over 9 innings, Wagner blanked Houston on 2 hits with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Wagner said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
This season, Wagner has a 4-7 record with a 5.60 ERA. | |
