| Pioneers Stop Chiefs, 5-3 | The St. Louis Pioneers picked up a win at Pioneer Field III, downing the Chicago Chiefs, 5-3. On the mound for St. Louis was right-hander Tige Bowe, who played a pivotal role in the win. Manuel Hernandez got credit for the save for St. Louis. It was his 5th of the year. With the win, the Pioneers have a record of 34-33.
The Pioneers got an important contribution from second baseman Frank Green, who in the bottom of the second hit a knuckle curve to right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Pioneers ahead, 4-0.
"I just kind of blacked out and executed my pitches," said Bowe.
