| Washington Loses, 7-6, Despite Whited Performance | Washington center fielder Don Whited was sensational. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. New York beat the Eagles, 7-6. The win went to Charlie French in relief, making him now 4-0. Earl Frazier took the loss for Washington. George Libby collected save number 4.
New York took a 7-6 lead on George James's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which James hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Washington pitcher Earl Frazier visibly frustrated.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said New York skipper Charlie Foley.
The Gothams now have a mark of 30-36. | |
