Cincinnati 5-3 Win Hard-Earned | Jim York, who led the CA in wins with 20 in 1960, was locked in. The left-hander led the Cincinnati Cannons to a 5-3 win against the San Francisco Sailors at Golden Gate Stadium. Hal Miller picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Davey Chamberlain, who finished 5th in the CA in saves with 8 in 1956, was tagged with the loss. The loss makes San Francisco 2-4.
The result might have been different, had it not been for 36-year old catcher Red Rodgers. Rodgers had a 2-run double in the top of the 13th inning to put the Cannons ahead, 5-3. For the game, Rodgers had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Rodgers said. | |
