| Seattle Bats Go Silent in 1-0 Loss | The Chicago Cougars rode a solid performance from 22-year-old starting pitcher Bill Bartlett to a win, beating the Seattle Kings, 1-0, at Cougars Park. Bartlett, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Bill Jackson recorded the save for Chicago, his 5th of the season.
The Cougars got a big at-bat from right fielder Andy Babel. For the game, Babel went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 14th double of the season gave Chicago a 1-0 lead.
"I had everything working," said Bartlett.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 36-32. | |
