| Los Angeles Downed, 4-3, by Copperheads | Marco Middleton, who led the FA in strikeouts with 218 in 1972, had a strong outing for the Atlanta Copperheads against the Los Angeles Suns at Peachtree Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. The Copperheads own a robust 43-24 mark.
Atlanta got a knockout punch from Gus Richards. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"I'm glad I got one I could handle. Glad I got the barrel on it," said Richards. | |
