| Baltimore Collects 5-2 Win | Baltimore pitcher Pat Fortier had a large part in his team subduing the Minneapolis Millers, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. The winner was Fortier. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Ike Hawley. George Brown picked up the save for Baltimore, his 2nd of the year.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of Hank Butler to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Clippers on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Butler.
The third-place Clippers improved to 35-30. | |
