| Minutemen Chop Down Dynamos, 3-1 | The Boston Minutemen defeated the Detroit Dynamos, 3-1, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. Boston pitcher Johnny Baylor had a standout performance. Bud Shireman recorded the save for Boston, his 12th of the season. The slumping Dynamos have dropped 6 in a row.
Larry Irwin had a big run-scoring double for the Minutemen in the bottom of the third inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from 31-year old left-handed pitcher Larry Tindall and swatted a double to center. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Minutemen ahead, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Irwin hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
