Perry Batters Buffalo for 5 Hits
After his 5-hit effort at Salt Springs Grounds was tarnished by Syracuse's 10-9 loss to the Buffalo Lake Captains, first baseman Douglas Perry told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."

He didn't get the win, but the 33-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Lake Captains.

"His swing is getting there," said Salt Barons skipper Lee Reed after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Douglas did that to perfection and we wasted it."

Douglas Perry singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 11th.

This season, Perry is hitting .295 with 2 home runs.
