| Cannons Get Better of Sailors, 4-2 | The Cincinnati Cannons got a marvelous performance from pitcher Ace Barrell. The right-hander kept the San Francisco offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Cincinnati victory at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Barrell picked up the win for Cincinnati, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 9-5. Earl White notched his 11th save of the season.
In the bottom of the second, Cincinnati second baseman Frank Eddy had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Eddy stroked a 2-run single to left-center. It made the score 2-0, Cincinnati. For the game, he went 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Ace was bobbing and weaving the whole game," said Cincinnati manager Charlie Britton.
Cincinnati, at 31-32, sits in 4th place in the Continental Association East. | |
