The Los Angeles Stars beat the Montreal Saints, 8-5, at Stade Montreal. Los Angeles shortstop Virgil Ewing had an outstanding performance. He was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jimmy Morris picked up the win, improving his season record to 8-5. He struck out 3 in 5 innings. The Stars are now 57-39, while the Saints fall to 37-57.

Don Hall had a big 2-run home run for the Stars in the top of the sixth inning. With Los Angeles leading 4-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Peter and punished it. The result was his 18th home run of the season, which put the Stars on top, 6-2.

Hall told a Los Angeles Daily News reporter that the win made him feel "exuberant."
