| Cannons Rebuff Saints, 5-4 | With catcher Pete Bruce leading the charge, the Cincinnati Cannons defeated the Montreal Saints, 5-4, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Bruce, who finished 3rd in the CA in on-base percentage with .395 last year, went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Montreal is 7-8 after the loss.
With the game tied, 3-3, in the bottom of the fifth, Bruce had a key at-bat for Cincinnati. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Bruce hit a run-scoring single off George Williams, making the score 4-3, Cannons.
"I was a little disappointed," said Montreal manager Harry Barrell. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
