Pioneers Come Back Late to Top Dynamos, 2-0 | The St. Louis Pioneers and Detroit Dynamos put on a pitchers' duel.
The Detroit Dynamos got a superb performance from pitcher Larry Beebe. Still, it wasn't enough to beat St. Louis. The Pioneers won the game, 2-0. Beebe threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning pitcher was John Thomas Johnson. His record now stands at 8-2. The right-hander went 8.1 innings, allowing no runs on 6 hits for the Pioneers.
St. Louis used the timely hitting of Cal Randall to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pioneers on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Randall.
St. Louis is in first place in the Federal Association with a record of 59-37. | |
