| Turner Powers Miners to 6-2 Win | The Pittsburgh Miners trumped the Washington Eagles, 6-2, at Fitzpatrick Park. Pittsburgh second baseman Dixie Turner was terrific. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Pat Simon, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 16-8. Today's win puts Pittsburgh at 75-77, while Washington falls to 86-66.
With Pittsburgh leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Turner hit a slider from Bob Ball for a 2-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season and put the Miners ahead, 5-2.
Turner attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
