Miners Need Extra Innings to Top Eagles, 9-5
The Pittsburgh Miners topped the Washington Eagles, 9-5, with first baseman Frank Selander playing a big role. Selander was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for the Miners in the win. Larry Rush earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-1. The Eagles have now dropped 5 straight.

Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Eddie Thomas to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Miners on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said Washington manager Roger Cleaves.
