The New York Imperials stopped the Milwaukee Arrows, 5-2, at Lakefront Park. The Imperials got a big game from Mike Counts, who was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Jim White was the winner. He's now 2-1. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Wright. The win lifts New York to a record of 8-7.

With New York leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Counts hit a changeup from Joe Wright for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Imperials ahead, 5-0.

"We did the things it takes to win a ballgame," said New York manager Jim Abernathy.
