Pilkerton Leads Gothams to Win
The New York Gothams beat the Washington Eagles, 4-3, in part because of center fielder Otto Pilkerton. He was 4-4 with a double and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Jack White came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Washington's current losing streak is now 4 games.

A key moment came when Pilkerton faced Washington hurler Otto Caudill in the bottom of the eighth. The Gothams, who were trailing 3-2, had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Pilkerton got a 2-0 changeup and hit a 2-run single.

"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said New York manager Harry Davis.
