| Keystones Handle St. Louis, Snag 3-1 Win | Philadelphia pitcher Joe Downing did his part in helping his team beat the St. Louis Pioneers, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. In 6 innings, Downing surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The last-place Keystones go to 29-31.
Philadelphia took control in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Joe Landry hit a run-scoring single to make it 1-0, Keystones.
"Joe kept them off-balance, threw a great game for us," said Keystones manager Charlie Leist.
