| Eagles Down Keystones, 6-5 | Del Filo had a good game, but he could not keep the Philadelphia Keystones from falling, 6-5, to the Washington Eagles at Columbia Stadium. The Philadelphia center fielder went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored once in the loss. The Eagles saw their win-loss record go to 85-64. At the same time, the Keystones fell to 76-73.
The Eagles got a clutch hit from left fielder Ralph Weatherbee. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Eagles.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Philadelphia manager Don Fox. "But we decided not to take it."
