Bob Goldman pitched a gem to lead Chicago to victory over the Toronto Wolves, 2-1. Jim Norris picked up the save, his 9th.
The Cougars got a big hit from catcher Charlie Sanders. Facing Toronto pitcher Stan Terry in the bottom of the sixth, Sanders pounded a solo home run to right. His 5th home run of the season put the Cougars ahead, 2-0.
"Not everyone likes pitching duels," said Sanders. "But I do."
The 5th-place Cougars go to 28-38.
