| Clippers Win Close Shave, 3-2 | The Baltimore Clippers faced a tough opponent in Houston pitcher Spencer Reese, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dalton Domed Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Reese went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Bobby Carr, now 3-0, was credited with the win in 2.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 3. Max Reed, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Baltimore used a timely hit from Fred Rogers to get the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 14th inning to put the Clippers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
During his postgame press conference, Clippers manager Hank Luckenbaugh told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
The second-place Clippers lifted their record to 34-26. | |
