Los Angeles Gets 3-1 Road Win | Pioneer Field III was the site of a competitive game between the St. Louis Pioneers and Los Angeles Suns.
St. Louis wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Danny Daniels, falling to the Los Angeles Suns, 3-1. Daniels threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Red Burtch got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 6 hits and 1 run, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Whitey Stewart earned the save for Los Angeles, his 4th of the year.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Andy Hervey? The Los Angeles center fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Suns on top, 2-0. For the game, Hervey had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Every loss hurts," said St. Louis manager Lou Ormsby. "But this was a tough one."
Losses have been rare for the Pioneers, who are now 11-3. | |
