| Foresters Deal Kings 3-2 Defeat | The Cleveland Foresters locked up a win at Prairie Park, knocking off the Kansas City Kings, 3-2. On the mound for Cleveland was left-hander Jake Pearson. He played a major role in the triumph. Pearson, now 11-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Lynn Horn, who finished 5th in the CA in ERA with 3.40 in 1955, earned the save for Cleveland.
In the top of the 6th, third baseman Cecil Cummings gave Cleveland the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Foresters had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off Kansas City pitcher Fred Myers changed that -- and Cleveland went on to win.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Cleveland manager Jim Whitehead. "It's usually not just one thing."
Cleveland now has a record of 60-35 with the win.
