The timely hitting of Otto Pilkerton helped the New York Gothams down the Minneapolis Millers, 5-4. Pilkerton was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Gothams. Bill Howard converted his 19th save in 29 tries. New York is now 68-78.

New York used a well-timed hit by Tom Brizzolara to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Gothams ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Brizzolara.
