Starting pitcher Joe McCarthy had a solid game. He was a big reason the Houston Comets throttled the Detroit Dynamos, 5-1. The triumph makes Houston 8-5, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 1974.

Houston catcher Jerry Robinson helped his team get ahead early. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a sacrifice fly.
