| Tight Tilt Goes to Saints, 2-1 | The Montreal Saints started the 1974 season win an impressive 2-1 win against the Milwaukee Arrows at Stade Montreal. Tommy Jackson, who led the CA in ERA with 1.92 in 1972, led the way for Montreal. Jackson picked up the win for Montreal, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Miguel Hernandez closed the door for Montreal, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Montreal first baseman Harry Swain contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Saints ahead, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Milwaukee manager Randy Hendrix. "This one will stick in my craw." | |
