| Gothams Squelch Keystones Offense in Shutout Win | The New York Gothams downed the Philadelphia Keystones, 3-0, at Gotham Stadium. New York pitcher Curtis Robinson definitely brought his A-game. Herb Isom recorded the save, his 2nd. The Keystones fall to 5-8 and continue their uninspiring start to the 1974 season.
Bill Arndt had a big 2-run home run for the Gothams in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Doc Carver, who led the FA in wins with 18 in 1969, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Gothams on top, 3-0.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said New York skipper Charlie Foley.
