| Seattle Upended by Kansas City, 4-1 | Kansas City pitcher Dave Dalton had a large part in his team subduing the Seattle Kings, 4-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. In 7.1 innings, Dalton surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The save was credited to Jack Turner, his 4th.
Tony Keil had a big 2-run double for the Mavericks in the bottom of the third inning. With Kansas City leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from Moe Lowery, who finished 2nd in the CA in innings pitched with 272.1 in 1971, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mavericks ahead, 3-0.
"Dave was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Kansas City manager Bob Bendick.
The Kings drop to 8-8 and continue their mediocre start to the 1975 season. | |
