| Washington Beats Atlanta, 7-4 | The Washington Eagles beat the Atlanta Copperheads, 7-4, at Peachtree Stadium. Washington second baseman Carlos Zamudio led the way. He was 1-3 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. Doc Lindley earned the save for Washington. Washington is off to a sluggish start, getting just their 5th win in 15 games.
Washington center fielder Don Whited contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 11th hit of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 3-0.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Eagles manager Joe D'Aprile. "This one was nice to get."
