Stars Rally Late to Nip Kings
The Los Angeles Stars withstood a fine game by Seattle center fielder Mike Griffith at Bigsby Stadium, to upend the Kings, 7-6. Griffith was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bill Dunlop, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Jackie Thompson picked up his 2nd save of the season.

Chicago, Illinois-born Mike Stevenson came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Stars trailing 6-5, he hit a 2-run single to left to put Los Angeles on top.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Stevenson.

The win gives Los Angeles a record of 6-8.
