| Win Makes Foresters 7-5 | Cleveland took on Toronto in front of a lively crowd.
Cleveland starter Dick Couture pitched well against the Toronto Wolves at Dominion Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Bob Scott earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 1-0.
Carlos Jaramillo went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk for Cleveland. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Jaramillo, who led the CA in stolen bases with 34 in 1970, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Toronto hurler Ray Smith, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Foresters a 3-2 lead.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Couture told the Cleveland Observer. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The Wolves fall to 6-10 and continue to sputter in the early going. | |
