Gothams Suffer 4-3 Road Loss | The Washington Eagles picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, dropping the New York Gothams, 4-3. Bob Ball, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1957 draft, was the difference-maker. So far, the 1963 season has been disappointing for New York, now 7-11.
Had George Whaley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Whaley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Eagles.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Whaley. | |
