| New York Absorbs 5-1 Loss to Baltimore | The Baltimore Cannons picked up a win at Riverside Stadium II, knocking off the New York Stars, 5-1. On the mound for Baltimore was left-hander Jim Roseman. He played a key role in the triumph. Roseman, now 2-1, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Baltimore is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 7th in 20 games.
The Cannons got a big at-bat from first baseman Ted Smith. For the game, Smith went 1 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave Baltimore a 2-1 lead.
"Jim did a tremendous job," said Baltimore manager Monty Beatson.
