| Miners Victorious at Minneapolis, 3-2 | Wet weather did not postpone the Pittsburgh-Minneapolis ballgame.
Pittsburgh turned a good performance from Hank Griswold into a 3-2 triumph over the Minneapolis Millers at Hennepin County Stadium. Griswold, the winner, moves to 3-1. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Manny Espinosa closed it out for Pittsburgh, earning his 4th save.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Dave Price to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Miners on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Minneapolis manager Frank Vance. "We just didn't cash in."
The Millers, now 1-16, continue their poor start.
