Saints Get Clutch Win Versus San Francisco
The Montreal Saints did just enough to sneak past the San Francisco Sailors, 7-6, at Stade Montreal. Montreal shortstop Bob Vernon, in particular, had a standout performance. Montreal pitcher Bob Nelson got the win, upping his record to 5-3. Gary Pike got the loss. With the win, Montreal goes to 35-53, while the Sailors fall to 49-45.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Montreal trailing 6-5, Vernon hit a fastball from Gary Pike for a 2-run home run, giving the Saints the walk-off win.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Vernon.
