| Imperials Earn Win with Late Rally | The Chicago Cougars could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bob Goldman into a win. Instead, the New York Imperials prevailed, 3-2. Goldman threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. New York reliever Ed Cooper picked up the win to move to 1-4. Bill Jackson suffered the loss. New York has now won 3 in a row.
Owen Drake came through with a big-time hit for New York. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Drake told a New York Daily reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win. | |
