The Baltimore Clippers, behind a great outing from Jose Martinez, who finished 4th in the CA in wins with 17 in 1973, defeated the Houston Comets, 3-0, at Dalton Domed Stadium. Baltimore now has a record of 33-25 with the win.

Baltimore used the timely hitting of Amos Johnson to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Clippers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Johnson said.
