| Sailors Down Imperials, 4-1 | At Golden Gate Stadium, the New York Imperials and San Francisco Sailors were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The San Francisco Sailors converted a terrific effort from starter Barry Schneider into a win over the New York Imperials at Golden Gate Stadium. The Sailors won the game by a final score of 4-1. In 7.2 innings, Schneider surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Mike Peter closed it out for his 4th save.
Third Baseman Ernie Carter made an impact for San Francisco, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Jim White in the bottom of the third. For the contest, Carter was 2-4 with a double.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Schneider after the game.
By defeating New York, the 4th-place Sailors improved to 29-35. | |
