Win Goes to Imperials in Tight Contest
The New York Imperials downed the San Francisco Sailors, 13-6. The hitting star was third baseman George Love. Love went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Imperials. Ed Cooper, who leads the CA in saves with 12, was the winner in relief. His record is now 5-4. The losing pitcher was Bert Alexander. The third-place Imperials lifted their record to 29-29.

New York used the hitting of Freddy Curtis to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Imperials on top, 7-6. For the game, Curtis had 1 home run and 2 singles in 6 at-bats.

"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Love. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
