The Boston Minutemen beat the Minneapolis Millers, 8-7. Boston pitcher and Murfreesboro, Tennessee, native Don Griffin led the way. The winner was Griffin. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The loser was Don Hillshire. Bob Hollister converted his 9th save in 11 tries.

The Minutemen got a big hit from shortstop Joe Kleman. Facing Minneapolis pitcher Dan Charlton in the top of the seventh, Kleman pounded a 2-run double to left. His 29th double of the season put the Minutemen ahead, 8-2.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Griffin. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."

The Minutemen are now 64-76.
