| McKenna Belts Bunch of Base Hits | New York Gothams right fielder Freddie McKenna had a day to remember at Capital Grounds, ripping apart the Washington Eagles and sparking the 8-2 Gothams win.
McKenna wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-6.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," McKenna told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Freddie McKenna hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
So far this season, McKenna has no home runs and a .354 batting average. | |
