Slumping Gothams Lose Again
The Chicago Chiefs did just enough to sneak past the New York Gothams, 6-5, at Gotham Stadium. Chicago pitcher Troy Myers, in particular, had a standout performance. Myers, the winner, moves to 4-3. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Walt Jackson was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.

Chicago first baseman Don Barker contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a slider to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 37th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 5-1.

"We're our own worst enemy right now," said New York skipper Charlie Foley.

Chicago has now won 5 straight, while the Gothams have lost 8 in a row.
